I own both, here's my observations......

Whites V3/V3i:

Pros:
Lighter
Far Superior Display (readable in any light condition)
Wireless Headphone Option available
Better Depth Indication / easier to read
3 Methods to Analyse target
Complexity of adjustments - allows far greater setup possibilities
Multiple frequency operation w/ Selectable frequency operation
Mixed mode audio possible (all metal + tone id)
Greater number of tones for target identification

Cons:
Rod adjustment a pain (spring pins)
Far more suceptible to EMI and Ground conditions causing flakiness
Pinpointing without using dedicated pinpoint mode not as accurate
Complexity of adjustments - can cause confusion

E-Trac:

Pros:
Greater Target ID possibilities (FE + CO vs VDI)
Exceptional pinpointing in search mode
Super stable in all EMI and ground conditions
Less complex controls - easier to grab and go
Easier discrimination adjustment
Higher resolution descrimination
Super easy Rod lenght adjustment (slide lock)
Multiple frequency operation - no selection

Cons:
Heavy
LCD difficult to read in some light conditions (backlight not effective)
Depth indication difficult to read
Less complex controls - not as many configurable options
Only two basic modes of operation: search / pinpoint
Cannot be placed in single frequency operation
single mode audio only

I can certainly understand that. Do you have an RSS link on your blog so I can receive notifications when you do get a chance to post?

Also, if/when you get a chance, check out our newly released Satellite Treasure Maps website (@ https://satellitetreasuremaps.com). I've been fortunate to be a small part in seeing this data come to life. We're excited to share what we've created w/other Treasure Hunters. Let me know what you think. You can write me directly @ hunter@satellitetreasuremaps.com.

Thanks,
Tom

Thank you for your interest Tom. I'm sorry I haven't updated in quite some time. I am active duty U.S. Navy and have a lot of time lately going out to sea. I'll work on keeping it updated, or if you are interested in guest posting I am open to that as well.

I saw you on Twitter, but no new entries for quite a while.

That led me to you blog, which I've enjoyed. I'd love to see more & a RSS feed if you have one. Please let me know if/when you plan on making new entries.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks,
Tom S.
